Generate Questions with AI
Generate with AI drafts a batch of questions for you, in any of the bank's four question types: multiple choice, multi-select, match pairs and fill in the blanks. The drafts go to a review page, not into the bank. Nothing reaches a student until a teacher approves it.
Draft a batch
- Open Question banks and click Generate with AI, or use the button on a bank's page so that bank is already selected.
- Choose the bank the approved questions go into. You can type a new bank name instead.
- Enter the Section (topic). Every approved question is filed under it. Without reference material, the AI writes about this section. With reference material, the section is only the label: questions come from your material alone.
- Choose How many, up to 25 per batch, and a Difficulty: easy, medium, hard or a mixed spread.
- Tick the Question types you want. The number is split evenly across them, and the form shows the split, for example "You will get 3 multiple choice, 3 multi-select, 2 match pairs, 2 fill in the blanks". Ask for at least as many questions as types you tick.
- Optionally describe What to cover, such as sub-topics, learning objectives or a syllabus line. The more specific, the better the questions.
- Choose the Language. Same as my material (the default) reads your files or pasted text and writes in that language: Hindi notes give Hindi questions. With no material, it uses the language you typed the topic in. You can also pick a language, or choose Other and type one. Optionally add Tags.
- Click Draft questions.
The page shows Drafting… and moves to the drafts when they are ready, usually in under a minute. You can leave and come back. The batch keeps going and appears under Waiting for your review.
Draft from your own material
Open Advanced: instructions and reference material.
- Reference files: attach up to 5 files, 25 MB in total. PDF (including scanned pages), Word, PowerPoint, Excel, text, or images. Scanned pages and images are read with AI vision, which takes a little longer.
- Reference text: paste notes, a textbook section or your own summary. You can use files and text together.
With material attached, the AI writes questions only from what your material says. The section and bank names are just labels for filing and are not used as a topic, so a section name that doesn't match your notes can't pull the questions away from them. What to cover and Instructions still apply, within the material. Each question quotes the sentence from your material that proves its answer, so you can see the source at a glance on the review page. Up to about 15 pages of material are used per batch. For a longer book, draft one chapter per batch.
Instructions to the AI takes anything else you want followed, for example "Use SI units" or "Prefer scenario-based questions".
What the AI is asked to do
Every draft is written to exam standard for its type:

For every type there is no "all of the above" or "none of the above", the explanation says why the answer is right and why tempting wrong answers are wrong, and nothing duplicates a question already in your bank or waiting in another batch.
If a batch does not come back
The review page says why and offers Try again with the same settings. The form opens with your choices filled in; attach any files again before you submit.
